The President Sheikh Khalifa has sent a congratulatory cable to Saudi Arabia's King Salman on the occasion of the country's 87th National Day on Saturday.

Sheikh Khalifa wished King Salman good health and expressed wishes for the prosperity and progress of Saudi Arabia and its people, according to Wam news agency.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also sent similar cables to King Salman.

As part of celebrations to commemorate Saudi Arabia’s national day on September 23, telecommunications providers Etisalat and du sent out a message that read, “UAE KSA Together” that is expected to continue through the weekend.

The special message has run across the top of mobile phones in the country since Wednesday.

A main street in Dubai, the Al Sufouh Street, was named after King Salman last year to commemorate the kingdom’s national day.

The renaming reflected the strong historical ties between the two nations, the UAE government had said, and acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s role in enhancing solidarity ­between Arab nations.
