President Sheikh Khalifa pardoned charges and ordered the release of 704 inmates on Monday, in celebration of Eid Al Adha.
The inmates had been sentenced to jail for a variety of minor offences, predominantly related to financial crimes.
Sheikh Khalifa also pledged to settle the financial obligations of the released prisoners in a bid to give them a second chance at life, alleviate their families' suffering and help to integrate them into the community.
Every year ahead of religious holidays, the President and Rulers of the emirates pardon prisoners and order their debts to be settled.
