DUBAI // A total of 53 people converted to Islam during this year’s Dubai Shopping Festival, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department has revealed.
During the shopping festival in January, the organisation held an interfaith dialogue programme at Al Reef Mall.
The programme aimed to teach people about Islamic culture through discussions, lectures and publications in different languages.
Huda Al Kaabi, chairwoman of the department’s New Muslims Section, said: “As part of our 2015 strategic plan, the section tries to make good use of the commerce and tourism events in Dubai in highlighting the basic principles and values of Islam, answering inquiries about it, and trying to correct the misconceptions of Islam.”
