Al Ain has appointed Juan Carlos Garrido as their new manager for the remainder of the season following the departure of Zoran Mamic last month.

Garrido, 49, arrives having been relieved from his post at Moroccan club Raja Casablanca following last month's 2-0 defeat to Tunisia's Club Africa in the Arab Club Championship Cup.

He has previously managed in Spain with Villarreal and Real Betis, as well as Egyptian giants Al Ahly and Al Ettifaq of Saudi Arabia.

Garrido will officially be unveiled ahead Al Ain’s Arabian Gulf League game against Al Nasr at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium on Saturday.

Al Ain sit second in the table on 32 points after 15 games, four behind leaders Sharjah.

Mamic left the UAE to take charge of Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal at the end of January having guided the Garden City club to a historic league-and-cup double in 2017/18.
