I refer to your fantastic article Port of call: Peter Warwick's extraordinary journey aboard the QE2 (December 15). Peter was actually our tour guide on the QE2 on Friday and was absolutely fantastic. He really made the experience. I can't recommend his tours highly enough.

No more fitting tribute to the legacy of Sheikh Zayed

I write in reference to your article UAE names 2019 the Year of Tolerance to reflect Zayed's vision (December 16): Nick Webster's article was a good read. The leadership of the UAE's decision to pronounce 2019 the Year of Tolerance is an important move.

Clearly they intend to ensure the country reflects the vision of the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed moving forward, throughout their other important objectives, from local and national development to maintaining regional peace.

The late President demonstrated the great qualities of visionary leadership during his tenure and no wonder those following him are committed, just as he was, to making the UAE a truly tolerant society.

It’s the small pleasures that count in US politics

I write in reference to your article Donald Trump uses Twitter to name new acting chief of staff (December 15). There was plenty of speculation that former New Jersey governor Chris Christie was in the running for the top White House job, following the departure of John Kelly. I am not at all happy with most of the actions of this administration, but I have to say that keeping Chris Christie out the White House any way possible is a victory in my book.

A February public holiday befitting of a pope

I refer to your article Thousands gear up for Pope's historic visit (December 15). Thank you to the UAE for your tolerance and generosity, to make this once-in-a-lifetime event a reality in February. I humbly request that February 5 is declared a public holday so all have a chance to see our dear Pope Francis. God bless the UAE.
