Last night's extreme weather may have caused her concert to be rained off, but popstar Dua Lipa still had a “special" day in Abu Dhabi.

The British singer had been due to perform at a show to mark the one-year anniversary of Louvre Abu Dhabi, but rainstorms and a weather warning from Abu Dhabi Police led to organisers calling off the show. Hundreds of fans had already arrived at the venue when the storm struck.

Dua, who landed in the capital on Sunday morning straight from the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, shared her disappointment with fans on social media, along with a video showing lightning over Louvre Abu Dhabi.

But the star seemed in good spirits, telling fans that she still enjoyed her time here. Tweeting to her 2.67 million followers, she said: “D’you know what, today was actually really special. I got to hang out in Abu Dhabi and see the Louvre here and I had a really fun soundcheck while prepping for the show its just a shame the weather took a turn for the worst.”

The star took to Instagram to share stunning pictures of her exploring the art museum, along with an image of her outfit for the show, saying she would not let the weather cancel her “killer frock”.

Organisers of the show, Flash Entertainment, released a statement saying organisers hoped the show will be rescheduled.

They added that more information will be released to ticket holders at a later date but anyone wishing to access a refund should email customerservice@ticketmaster.ae
